Making Peace with the World/ Peace Corps at 50
Photograph Peace Corps volunteers in service around the world. Create a visual record of Peace Corps volunteers in the field to help promote the agency in time for the 50th anniversary in 2011.
The 50th anniversary of Peace Corps is in 2011. As a returned Peace Corps volunteer and a photojournalist, I propose to travel document the work of Peace Corps volunteers in every country currently served to create a visual record that will show how the agency still is active in pursuing the original three goals; providing skilled people to developing countries that request volunteers, those volunteers learning about the host country and sharing their culture and then brining back home what they learned.

Truly amazing! Wonderful dream & Best of luck! You have my "PIC" - please take a second to read about my cause - furthering peaceful coexistence between Arabs and Israelis in the Middle East and around the world! Thank you!
Great project to support and publicize what Peace Corps is currently doing in the world.
What an awesome birthday present. Good luck! check mine out if you get the chance.
won't be only about peace I suppose...
good luck, nice project, voted!
please check my project too!
The project will give a picture of the developing world in a pivotal time in history as globalization, environmental issues and other factors causes changes worldwide.
By photographing American Peace Corps volunteers as they work with their host country counterparts this project will show how Peace Corps fosters cross cultural interaction.
It will also tell stories of people in countries in the developing world that often get overlooked by mainstream media (unless there is a natural disaster or war).
There are many photojournalists who make their careers from covering conflict, and they are to be commended for their work, but I want to be a "peace photographer." In other words I want to follow in the footsteps of Cornell Capa, rather than his brother, Robert Capa.
Any thoughts of doing some photos of RPCV's back in the states? A kind of "where are they now?"
My vote is in!
Best of luck Richard! I'll send the link to this site to the people on my blog who showed interest when I first highlighted your campaign there.(I'm the girl who called you a dork over at The Point. :)
Just to clarify: What I propose is an in-depth photographic documentary of Peace Corps volunteers in the field. I will photograph Peace Corps volunteers working on their projects, living in their communities, and living their day-to-day lives while meeting the daily challenges of Peace Corps life.
To mousepotato66, Yep I am still a dork! Thanks for the continued support.
Good luck on getting the votes!
Good ideas like yours that are not in the Top 100 are nearly impossible to find. This is unfair as many great ideas are hidden. Those of us in the “Sub-100” should work together to promote the best projects of the Sub-100 so that they can be in the Top 100 and be seen. Please vote for best Sub-100s!
I love what you are doing, good luck! Keep up the good work.
Good Luck and keep going
I'm visualizing your success!
From an LS member.
Good Luck!
Vote submitted! Good luck, Mr. Sitler!
PCVs are the face of America that people in the developing world know best...true ambassadors. You have my vote because Peace Corps is so important in addressing the poverty and inequality that stain our world. Bravo!
Thank you to everyone for their votes and comments. The comment by elmodog is exactly the reason I want to do this project. I wish I would have written that in my proposal!
good luck bud!
You got my vote, Rich!!
Rich, Hope that your dream comes true. Be sure
to include the volunteers in the Philippines,
which was my assignment from 1963-65. I spent
6 months traveling through Asia and Europe on
my way home.
