Project Moo Moo Meow
Our dream assignment is to travel across the United States, photographing rescued farm animals and using the art of photography as a tool for social change.
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ---Mahatma Ghandi
-------SUMMARY
Our dream assignment is to travel across the United States, photographing rescued, abandoned, and abused farm animals and using the art of photography as a tool for social change.
-------OUR DREAM
According to farmsanctuary.org, “Farm animals are specifically excluded from most state anti-cruelty laws and from the federal Animal Welfare Act”.
We plan to capture the tragic tales, as well as the success stories, of abandoned, homeless, and mistreated farm animals in order to promote awareness and encourage compassion toward all living beings with whom we share the world – even those that most Americans consider disposable in the name of food, beauty, or fashion.
Never before has a group of artists and activists set out to document the natural lives of these animals in their purest form – free, nurtured, and unconfined – and from this journey, render a collection of images aimed at changing the common ideology of a nation, and the world.
We live in a country that becomes morbidly appalled (and rightfully so) when a man brutally abuses and mindlessly kills several dogs for sport, yet fails to consider millions of animals subjected to cruelty and suffering within farming and fashion industries each day. The solution is to assimilate the way humans view these typically non-domesticated animals with the way they view their own cats, dogs, and other animal companions.
Project Moo Moo Meow is about broadening the human range of animal empathy through the art of photography. We cannot pick and choose which species are worthy of compassion. As Ghandi inferred: through kindness to all, our nation will progress.
-------OUR JOURNEY
Our journey will include a visit to a variety of farm sanctuaries across the United States, beginning at the Farm Sanctuary in New York and ending at the Farm Sanctuary in California, while stopping at many others in between. We will photograph and document sanctuary animal life at its best and worst.
Along the way, we will conduct a series of community outreach events to encourage a cruelty-free lifestyle, featuring our photographs and experiences so far. We will educate the public on issues involving animal cruelty, the homeless animal epidemic, adoption procedures (yes, homeless farm animals can be adopted into loving homes to live out happy, meaningful lives!), and the effect that our nation’s relationship with animals has on our health and the environment.
We also hope that our artwork’s message will go deeper than the photographs themselves. At the conclusion of our journey, we will ask others to join our cause by attending a benefit concert featuring musicians who share a common compassion for animals. The concert proceeds will be donated to sanctuaries in need, and photographic prints from our journey will be sold at the show for donation money as well.
Any remaining funds from our journey will also be donated to the sanctuaries.
Additionally, we plan to hold a gallery show featuring large-scale versions of our work to be viewed and sold. After the show, we will create a book for animal charity to be sold worldwide in order to preserve and extend the mission of Moo Moo Meow long after our personal journey is complete.

Cool!
Not many people know the true effects of the meat and fashion industry. Making small changes to our country's ways now could mean big changes in the world for future generations. You've got my vote!
Good ideas like yours that are not in the Top 100 are nearly impossible to find. This is unfair as many great ideas are hidden. Those of us in the “Sub-100” should work together to promote the best projects of the Sub-100 so that they can be in the Top 100 and be seen. Please vote for best Sub-100s!
