Stories of War (Africa)
My dream photo assignment is to tour Africa's war-torn regions and tell the stories of the people I meet who've lost so much, but still survive.
I want to tour Africa's war-ravaged countries and tell the stories of Africans through photographs.
My dream photo assignment comes from my belief that we (the privileged) shy away from the world's sorrows. Not because we're bad people, but because it's easier. We all KNOW it's there, but we don't see it. We're caught up in our failing economy here in the states, our mortgage, our kids... well I want to see it. I want to meet all these people, in Rwanda, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Darfur and bring their faces back in photographs. I'm not vein enough to think that I can change the world or even take better photos than the ones in National Geographic, but I want to try. Every victim of war, rape and disease in Africa's story should be told. Articles are easy to ignore, photographs are not.

What a great idea and truly a form of direct action. I hope you win.
I like that you want to tackle a subject that goes beyond pretty pictures of lovely things. This could have a serious impact on awareness of issues in Africa's neediest areas.
Hey! You had the same idea as I had, lol! I voted for you, I'd love to see our dream win, even if it's not me. Good luck!

Life is an adventure! May yours be for the good of many.
Well that's a large assumption, isn't it?
Thanks everyone!!
nice! i like it.
we shy away from anything sorrowful.
an ounce of feeling and we cringe.
turn to money.
nothing makes us feel more secure than that.
i am watching all of that collapse.
security. insecurity.
goodbye yellow brick road.
your idea is a wakeup.
Good luck Miss Pam, the world needs your big heart and talent.
You got my vote!
Read the book 'Bang Bang club' - it's all about four photographers active within the townships of South Africa during the Apartheid period who didn't shy away.
Unfortunately 2 of the members died - Ken Oosterbroek was shot and killed whilst reporting. Kevin Carter committed suicide.
good luck pam!
I willdrwarren1977.I hope it didn't sound like I think EVERYONE turns away, I know that isn't the case.I'm just talking about majorities, and again, I don't think it makes them bad people. The media ignores it on purpose,so I want to add to the independent pool of information the only way I know how.
I would love to see your photo, but I can't seem to open it!
Help me.
Thanks
I think I voted! This damn thing is confusing- I had to reg!
I hope you win! Good luck!!
Go, Pam! This is a such a great idea!
KEWL, maybe you can be friends with angelina Jolie...
Have you researched the cost? It is ny the way, ONLY 50K. Should get you there and back, if you got permission you know that there is such things as travel restrictions for US citizens. oh and a security detail to come along with you shouldn't be more than 100K.
Negative snippy comments are pretty lame. Just saying. Go vote for your friends and let mine vote for me.
Voted! Go PAM!
