What if your produce had a passport?
How far has your food traveled to reach your grocery store? How many people are involved in its voyage to your table? This project will document the impact global food distribution has local agriculture and the people behind the food we eat
We live in an age of instant gratification--fast food, microwave dinners, out-of-season fruit in the dead of winter.
What if your produce had a passport? I want to put faces on those involved in the journey our food travels before arriving at our dinner table: everyone from the CEO of big businesses, the small farmer, the harvester, the illegal day laborer, the truck driver. This project will address the effects agribusiness and mass consumption has on our health and the future of our planet
My inspiration is Jane Goodall's book, "Harvest For Hope: A Guide to Mindful Eating," which raises awareness of the choices we make.
Areas of interest:
• The Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway
• Millennium Seed Bank Project in England
• Factory farms in Texas
• The dying industry of family farming in the United States and the UK
• Child laborers in West African cocoa industry
• Food processing factories
• Distribution centers
• Corporate headquarters of major agribusinesses

the great big global food disaster we've started might be the most important of this age. the more aware we are about where our food comes from and how its made, the better the modern food industry will become. ace idea, not impossible to implement and its effect would be dramatic.
I love this idea and think this project could reach far and wide to educate about our food supply and to inspire more thoughtful and informed choices. I really really really really hope Meg gets to shoot her dream assignment.
How neat to see who is involved in the food ew eat!
amazing..i'll get my crew to vote!
Good luck Meg. Please help people see the true evils of the the factory farming industry.

this is awesome. i'll spread the word! good luck!
wow i hope number #1 doesn't win... that's the most unoriginal idea ever.
this idea is so relevant. more work needs to be done on this, more people need to be made aware of where our food comes from. we need to reconnect to our roots, and our food, and what better way to bring it all to light than through your beautiful photography? win this thing!
thanks for everyone's support thus far!

Hear that, it is me clapping for your great idea. Just by posting this information you have reminded us all to think about our consumption and daily choices.
I like your idea!
I voted for you; will you vote for me? Let's do this and see how it turns out. Let's help each other!
Good luck!
Hey Meg! I love your idea and hope you win. GOOD LUCK!!
An amazing idea. Good luck!!!!!!!!
Unite against the “network” that is scheming votes. Support ideas that are “lost” due to unworthy ideas using low tactics. “Insulin” is not the best idea. Something is wrong here and many fantastic ideas are getting lost due to the “network.” If you like my idea on “Vanishing Cultures,” vote for it.
I love this idea! check out mine and Pic it if youd like! Congo here I come...
This is such a cool idea. So many people are completely disconnected from how food gets to their tables these days. This project could have real impact. I'd love to see it win!
thanks, like it,certainly some good ideas getting lost in the mix amongst all this computer network votes..and if you like mine, about orhpans in USA and Africa, please return the vote!
...excellent & timely idea! You have my vote! I've also just 'spread your word' on "Ooooby", a website/forum that I'm a member of. It shares information and encouragement for people who grow their own food "Out Of Our Own Backyards" :)
Best of luck to you!!

very intriguing Meg... its clear to me that our food supply chain in the US has a direct affect on our world leading obesity rate... thus contributing to our current healthcare crisis. Good Luck!
