The Year of Rock: Capturing Music Festivals Around The World
Music is the universal language. Millions of music lovers congregate every year in nearly every corner of the globe to enjoy this language - together. I would love to capture the essence and share it with the world - over one year!
Over the last 4 years, I've made it my mission to attend and capture as many music festivals and performing bands as is humanly possible. Everything from Bonnaroo (TN) to Lollapalooza (Chicago) to Coachella (CA) to Voodoo Fest (New Orleans) to SXSW to Austin City Limits to CMJ. Last year, my journey took me to Canada where I experienced the first ever Pemberton Music Festival. There I realized that although American music festivals all seemed to be a unique challenge and experience in themselves, the Canadian festival was a whole different beast in itself along with a whole new crop of human beings - all being connected by the same thing - the music. This is something that I had never put together before, but truly amazed me.
From this experience, I've decided that it would be my dream assignment to continue to branch this project out to include as many music festivals/events as possible - worldwide - for one year of my life. This would surely include the birthplace of the music festival - England (i.e. Glastonbury, V Festival, T in The Park, etc) as well as Australia and its annual touring festival Big Day Out. Not to forget Japan's Summersonic or Fuji Music Festivals. I'm still researching South America, Africa and other parts of Europe (i.e Reeperbahn Fest, Roskilde, etc).
I want to dedicate one year of my life to pursuing this endeavor. Document the locations, the performers, the fans, the fun and everything that goes along with that. Ending with a photographic contrast of how we all come together as people to enjoy life - if only for a weekend - regardless of where we reside.

Your passion, drive, and love for what you do and want to do is very intoxicating. You have my vote. Your photography, gives the ability to the viewer to take them where ever the picture was taken, but with a story. You Sir, inspire others to take up photography.

I picked this one for my brother. He is an Austinite and a real music lover.
I love this idea. Like you, I'm a music photographer and I've been to many of the festivals in the U.S. Several have art installations in addition to the stages - wouldn't it be cool to go back a year after shooting and have your work displayed at festivals? :)
Make sure to check out BRITTFEST in Truckee, Tahoe. It is in memory of my brother that passed. I voted. If you have a moment, please check out my project. You can also watch a video on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma-5ZO4kU4w
