Ghost Towns America - Vanishing History Captured
The "Ghost Towns" of America are fading into nothing more than memories. Buildings crumble, towns vanish, and history goes with these remote and lost locations. Before they're gone for good they should be documented.
We've all seen the old time westerns. The dirt streets, the emptied buildings, and the gunslingers preparing a duel to the death. But there was more to the westward expansion than what was contained in the movies.
From Montana to New Mexico, Texas to California, the ghost towns of America are fading into the dust. Some places have been looted to the point of having nothing left to see while others still preserve some of the original buildings and tools left behind by former residents. What are the stories of these vanishing towns?
Boom town, gold rush, or just a general store for ranchers. The ghost towns of the west have varied stories. Border raids, industrial collapse, lack of water? Just a few samples of what turned busy towns into ghost towns.
A 3 month trip covering states such as Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and California would cover both large and small ghost towns. The trip between locations would be made with an Airstream Trailer which is both my home and portable photo studio. Daily blogs and photographic posts would be made with my current wireless and portable technology.
