JUMP FOR JOY: Spreading a universal theme throughout the world.
There’s something about traveling that gives me an adrenaline rush & makes me want to leap... My dream photo assignment is to take a jumping photo in as many countries as I can - to capture the simple shared expression of JUMPING FOR JOY!
Jump - verb (used without object). To spring clear of the ground or other support by a sudden muscular effort; leap: to jump into the air.
I want to photograph myself and others during that split second of being in midair. I want the series of images to tell a story of connecting & spreading joy in people’s lives. The story will be universal & communicate with people all over the world.
Jumping photos became a personal goal... to get my friends, myself and people I encountered on my various trips to share in the fun and laughter of jumping. The repetition of people jumping changes with each image. The universal theme is JOY---through the people (young and old), the time of day, the location, the people I meet, and the diversity of the situations. It speaks a universal language of laughter and fun! Watching people giggle and smile as they soar in the air speaks this common language.
Jumping photos not only impact the participants while they are jumping, but it creates connections to the passing viewer (a look of surprise from a passerby, chuckling of a young child, laughter of a friend, etc.). It impacts the people viewing the photographs and creates stories and questions (Where was the photographs taken? Who are the people in the image? What were the people thinking when you asked to take their photograph?).
My blog will tell the story of my adventures & experiences. It will allow the viewers to connect with others, travel from their desk, upload their own jumping photos or meet me on the road to participate.
Travel & photography are two of my biggest passions. I believe that life's all about having fun & exploring the world to the fullest. I’m filled with joy when discovering new places & meeting new people. I carry around several cameras & document everything, as each photograph creates an imprint of my memories. There are a plethora of opportunities and images to explore. The possibilities and adventures are endless! My photographs will allow everyone to share the journey of jumping from place to place…showing that we are all different, but the same. No matter who you are or where you live, we all share the expression of happiness & joy.
