Endangered Feasts

If the pleasure of discovering a dish that can “only be found” in one region of the world becomes something of the past, we will deprive future generations of many delightful flavors and memories found in a healthy and diverse food culture.

In a time when you can walk into a fast food restaurant on any continent and know exactly what the food will taste like, I want to explore the world’s traditional culinary knowledge and collect it in a large cooking and story book. The collection of images, stories and recipes would show the cultural significance of food and the potentially enormous loss of traditional culinary knowledge that may occur if the decline of food rituals continues.

My intention is to convey the importance of food traditions not only to our own families, but also to our world as a whole. I would like the book to show the important role food plays in linking our communities to a history and to a specific region. I want the readers to have a better understanding of the country and its people through the food culture.
