A Small Town Tour
I want to get back to basics, small town basics. I want to travel the country meeting and learning about people in every corner I can find. My affinity for small towns is ingrained in me. My mother grew up in a town of 500 in North Dakota.
Having been introduced to farm life at a young age through my mother's family I've grown up with a nostalgic reminiscence of a simpler life. I dream of knowing everyone on my way home from work and getting updates on the grocery clerk's family.
My mother's tales of childhood days spent in chicken coops and running to the outhouse in the middle of the night were stories I asked to hear again and again. Everyone has a story to tell and I would love to seek out those people in the small towns from which my family came.
There is something beautiful about life away from the hum and buzz of the city. I'd love to trace the places from which my family came, from North Dakota to Illinois and Iowa. Bringing family history into any venture I take on brings me closer to my subjects and allows me to become more involved and attentive to the world around me.
This is my dream, this is my life.
